Growing in Wisdom and Skills

I like to paint.  They say good artists paint everyday.

It's like  playing ball, or singing.

You have to practice to  be good...

Service Project: Garden at the Nursing Home

“Religion that is pure and undefiled
before God the Father is this:
To visit orphans
and widows in their affliction”

James 1:27

Our youth group has a lot of fun together!  We go bowling, have parties, eat lots of great food, and even go to trampoline parks.

But I think the most important thing we did together last summer was serve the local Alzheimer's patients at "Golden Living Nursing Home" by creating a beautiful, colorful garden for them to go in all summer, right off of their unit!

At first it was hot and humid, and messy.  I really thought, "I'd rather be at the pool."  But once we got to the patio, and started digging and planting flowers in the dirt, it became kind of fun!

The place was a drab, boring patio when we arrived.  We swept up all the trash, sticks, leaves, and gravel.  Then we planned where the colorful blooming plants would look best.

After we finished beautifying the garden, the staff brought out little cups of vanilla Ice Cream.  Some of the Residents of the Alzheimer's Unit came out, too.  We visited with them.  It was a good day.  I was glad I did it.

What have you done to serve someone in need lately?

Secret Activities

I love to secretly do good deeds.
It is kind of a "thing" in our family.

We enjoy thinking up fun deeds to do.

International Missions

My newest Mentor,
Emmanuel Atwi, President of Ghana Bible College in
Kumasi, Ghana

Today, our congregation invited a man from Africa to come and tell us about his work and his country, Ghana.  I spent the morning with the President of Ghana Bible College... and now he is my good friend -- Brother Emmanuel Atnwi.

I plan to raise funds to help him in his mission to spread the Good News about Jesus in Ghana.  I will post more about my plans and some ideas later this month.

Do Something NOW

I hate it that Policemen are being shot down in the streets in
our country these days!

They are the ones who help, and yet
bad people are going after them to KILL.

Today, some friends and I made some cupcakes,
wrote some encouraging notes,
and delivered them to
our local Police Station.

The Police Officers were so happy!

It only took an hour of our time, but
we made a huge difference in
the Policemen's day!

We showed them our notes, and then asked
the Police Chief if we could say a
prayer over them.

Steven, my good friend led the prayer, asking God to
provide safety, wisdom, and
protection to all the officers.

Then we just talked and petted the big Police Dog.

I encourage everyone to take time to
do something like this soon.

These men do dangerous work and
they said very few people thank them.

"When the righteous are in authority,

 the people rejoice:

but when the wicked rule,

the people mourn."

What is Servant Leadership?

During my third year in Lads to Leaders,

Our Theme for 2015/2016 was

"All that you say to me, I will do."

It is never easy to strive

To obey the Bible in all things

But there is no better way to try to live.

I have met many wonderful people who
Have Ruth 3 verse 5 as their goal in life.

These people are good people,

 I mean

Salt of the Earth types.

Many of them are with me in Lads to Leaders (L2L).

My Puppet Team last year

For 2015/2016 in Lads to Leaders, I signed up for 19 events.

That is HUGE.

This is only my Third year in L2L, but I was interested in so many things,

my parents said I could do 19 events,

IF promised to complete two events or items per month.

I had to make a plan on paper, and my mom made me keep a journal,

writing down when I was working on each event,

and when I finished.

 It kept me on track.

But even if I don't win a single event, it doesn't matter,

because I will have gained so much more.

Youth Service work this year

Here is a song that sums it all up:

Make me a servant, Lord, Make me like you...
For you are a Servant,
Make me like You,
Make me a servant,
Do what you must do,
To make me a servant,
Make me like you.

My Goals in 3rd Grade...

When I was in 3rd Grade, I went to a Christian School.
My teacher was Miss Metzger.  She was incredible!

We sang hymns in class every day.  She made it fun.

She taught us this song, and we made a crude book to go with the song.

Servants of the Most High God: A Young Missionary

Truett Keener is a good friend of mine.

He loves telling others about the good news of Salvation through Jesus Christ. Truett is an excellent example of a Leader, and someone I am trying to imitate.

I know that Truett loves Jesus.  He loves the lost.  He is a Soul Winner.  This is what I want to be, so I am sharing this article from the Harding University Bulletin today.

Please support this good work if you are able...

Harding University Junior, Truett Keener had never been to South America before this week. He has been co-leading a group of 22 students on a spring break mission trip in Ecuador.

Keener has participated in mission trips during spring break before, but this is the first trip he has led as a part of spring break missions through the Mitchell Center for Leadership and Ministry.
“People often don’t realize how many opportunities there are to travel, to lead groups or participate in a group, and that’s something I would love to see vocalized more,” he said. “I would love to see the program grow.”

The group has been busy ministering to children, leading Bible classes and chapel, and working on the property around a local school. While Keener has been focused on the specifics of his trip this week, he can’t help but see the impact of spring break missions as a whole.

“Sometimes we can get caught up in what’s happening with our individual trips, but when we look at the big picture, it’s very impressive what actually happens,” he said. “I’m really happy to be able to be a part of it. “

Giving Away Half of Your Kingdom (Versus having a pure heart)

There is a story in the bible about a king who foolishly offered half of his kingdom to a young, attractive girl who could dance provocatively for him.  I wrote an essay about this at the following site:

My Treasure is Jesus: The Treasure of a Pure Heart:

(double click here)

Proverbs 6:25-29 says basically,  “Do not desire the dancing girl’s beauty in your heart, nor let her capture you with her eyelids. For on account of a harlot one is reduced to a loaf of bread (Marshmallow),  and an adulteress hunts for the precious life of the innocent man.  Can a man take fire in his bosom,  and his clothes not be burned?”

Earthen Vessels

We were reading Revelation when I got to do my watercolor project, so I decided to paint the Lord of all lords coming back for His people.

You can read about it here:

Only ONE Way Sometimes
